Idamalayar case accused is dead

THIRUVANANTHA-PURAM: Former KSEB chairman S Ramabhadran Nair and the sixth accused in the Idamalayar case, died here last morning. He was 81.

The Supreme Court had sentenced Nair to a year's rigorous imprisonment in the case along with former minister R Balakrishna Pillai in Idamalayar graft case.

The court later reduced his sentence to the period already undergone at the trial stage as he was in an advanced stage of dementia.

The prosecution case against Nair was that he was part of a criminal conspiracy that caused loss of Rs 2cr to KSEB by awarding contracts for power tunnel and surge shaft of the project.

He leaves behind his wife Maya and children Sathish R Nair (late), Sunil R Nair and Dr Anoop R Nair.
